✅ Guaranteed Fit — Max dish size per rack: 12"W × 11.5"D × 4"H. All our recipes use dishes that actually fit your Ninja Double Stack XL DCT401.
💡 Use the air fry basket. Freeze sticks solid before cooking — this is non-negotiable. Spray the basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Use a solid pan (not the basket) — this recipe contains liquids.
🥘 Ingredients
Main
  • 8 oz mozzarella string cheese (8 sticks, full-fat)
Breading Station
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
Cooking
  • cooking spray (as needed)
Serving
  • marinara sauce (warmed, for dipping)
📝 Instructions
  1. Unwrap string cheese and cut each stick in half crosswise. You should have 16 pieces. Shared 💡 Full-fat mozzarella melts better and leaks less than part-skim.
  2. Set up breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second, and breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, oregano, garlic powder, and salt in a third. Shared 💡 Use shallow bowls — they make dipping easier than deep bowls.
  3. Coat each cheese stick: roll in flour (shake off excess), dip in egg (let drip), then roll in breadcrumb mixture pressing firmly. Shared 💡 Press the breadcrumbs on firmly — this creates the seal.
  4. Repeat: dip breaded sticks back into egg, then breadcrumbs again for a double coat. Shared 💡 Double coating is the secret to no blowouts. Do not skip this step.
  5. Place breaded sticks on a parchment-lined plate. Freeze for at least 60 minutes until rock solid. Shared 💡 Freezing is mandatory. Room-temp cheese will burst through the coating in seconds.
  6. Preheat Ninja on Air Fry at 390°F for 3 minutes. Spray basket with cooking spray. Lower Oven 💡 High heat sets the breading fast, creating a crispy shell before the cheese melts.
  7. Place frozen mozzarella sticks in the pan in a single layer. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray. Air Fry at 390°F for 6 minutes. Lower Oven 💡 Do not flip — the cheese is liquid inside and flipping risks punctures.
  8. Let rest in the pan for 1 minute, then transfer to a plate. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce. Shared 💡 The 1-minute rest lets the shell firm up. Cheese is molten — warn your guests!
💡 Ninja Tips

Double coat plus freeze equals foolproof mozzarella sticks. If any cheese leaks, it means the coating was too thin or freeze time was too short. Panko breadcrumbs work for extra crunch but Italian breadcrumbs adhere better.

Scaling: To double: freeze all sticks together and cook in two batches from frozen. Do not thaw between batches. To halve: use 4 string cheese sticks (8 halves), halve all breading amounts.
